Hi there
I'm Aaron La Lau, a multidisciplinary designer based in San Francisco. I'm currently Head of Product Design at Strava.

I grew up in Vancouver, Canada, and creating things has been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid it was illustrated comics and stop-motion animations, later websites and apps. That curiosity eventually brought me to Google, where I spent over a decade designing for some of the world’s most widely used products.

Today, I’m Head of Product Design at Strava, where I lead design across a platform that connects millions of people through movement. My focus is on building experiences that are not only functional at scale, but motivating, human, and deeply connected to the real world — helping people find meaning in activity, progress, and community.

Prior to Strava, much of my work was at YouTube, where I worked as an IC Designer, UX Manager, and Area Design Lead. I helped shape experiences across mobile, web, and TV — learning how to simplify complex systems, design for global audiences, and care deeply about the details that make products feel intuitive and inspired.

I approach design with a renaissance mindset, blending systems thinking, cultural awareness, and hands-on craft. Whether defining strategy or refining an interaction, I care about clarity, usefulness, and making products feel human.

I also love side projects: illustration, small apps, creative coding experiments. They’re my way of staying curious and exploring ideas outside the constraints of scale.

When I’m not designing, I’m usually cycling, running, or exploring the outdoors.
